If you’re applying for Canadian permanent residence through Express Entry in 2025, having a pre-existing medical condition doesn’t automatically disqualify you, but it can complicate things.
Here’s what you should watch out for:
● As of August 21, 2025, all new Express Entry applications require an upfront Immigration Medical Exam (IME) before you even apply.
● IRCC evaluates three main medical risk factors:
1. Excessive demand on Canada’s health or social systems (there’s a cost threshold involved)
2. Public health risks (contagious diseases, etc.)
3. Public safety risks (conditions that might cause unpredictable behaviour or incapacity)
● If IRCC has concerns, they may issue a Procedural Fairness Letter giving you a chance to submit supporting medical documentation or a mitigation plan (e.g. private health insurance, treatment history, doctor’s reports).
Don’t assume it’s over if you have a health condition. Know your rights, gather strong medical evidence, and be prepared to respond carefully. At Onkar Immigration, we help you prepare for a successful application process.

IRCC has just held its sixth Express Entry draw of September 2025, this time focusing on trade occupations. 🇨🇦
🔹 Number of ITAs issued: 1,250
🔹 CRS minimum score required: 505
🔹 Eligible candidates needed to have submitted their Express Entry profile before October 5, 2025
This is the first trade-occupation draw in 2025 under Express Entry, and the CRS cutoff of 505 shows how competitive the pool is becoming.

● Obtain Proof of Citizenship- Apply for a Canadian citizenship certificate through IRCC. This document confirms your Canadian citizenship status.

● Meet Eligibility Criteria- Ensure you meet the requirements, including proving your parents' Canadian citizenship and your relationship to them.

● Apply for a Passport- Once you have your citizenship certificate, you can apply for a Canadian passport.
