Nowruz, dating back to the 6th century BCE, marks the new year and the arrival of spring, symbolizing nature's renewal. It carries spiritual significance, representing the triumph of good over evil and joy over despair.

A central element of Nowruz involves setting a table decorated with items representing purity, light, abundance, happiness, and fertility for the year ahead.

The Government of Canada announced initiatives to improve service delivery and simplify obtaining a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

What are the differences?

eSIN:
Individuals can apply for their SIN from home and receive it from Service Canada within five business days after completing the application with all the required documents.

SIN@Landing:
Temporary Residents (TRs) and Permanent Residents (PRs) can request their SIN immediately upon landing at designated airports through Service Canada centers.

SIN@Entry:
The SIN at Entry will be implemented in 2025-2026 to improve the efficiency of the application process for work permits and permanent residence by bundling Social Insurance Number (SIN) requests with their applications.

The new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot will open on March 31, 2025.

The recently announced Home Care Worker Pilot (HCWP) has the most accessible eligibility criteria among all permanent resident pathways in Canada.

It will grant permanent residency to 2,750 home care workers through this pilot.

There will be two streams:

1. Workers in Canada (foreign nationals of home care workers applying within Canada) - This stream will open on March 31, 2025.

2. Applicants outside Canada (foreign national home care workers applying from abroad) - This stream will open later.

Applicants must have at least:

· 6 months of recent related work experience in Canada or abroad OR a minimum of six months of educational credentials related to home care training.
· Have the equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma or higher

· Language proficiency of CLB Level 4 in English OR NCLC Level 4 in French.

· A full-time job offer from a private household or any organization directly hiring full-time workers to provide short-term or occasional home care. A labor market impact assessment is not required.

Further eligibility requirements and more information are expected to be released on March 31, 2025.

New Immigration Policies to Address Canada's Growing Housing Demand

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have announced measures to assist construction workers without legal status and support foreign apprentices in the construction industry.

New Permanent Resident Pathway

The IRCC plans to create a new pathway to permanent residence for construction workers and allocate up to 6,000 spots for undocumented construction workers already living and working in Canada to gain legal status. The details will be released.

New Study Permit Exemption

- This policy took effect on February 26, 2025, and is scheduled to expire on February 26, 2027. It released more details to support specific foreign national apprentices in construction programs, allowing them to complete their studies without requiring a permit.

To be eligible under this policy, you must meet specific qualifications.

• have a valid work permit
• hold a job in an eligible construction occupation
• have an apprenticeship agreement registered with the relevant provincial or territorial apprenticeship and certification authority

Updates and key points about the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) in 2025.

- In 2025, IRCC will not accept a new application to sponsor your parents or grandparents under the PGP.

- IRCC will accept up to 10,000 completed applications under the Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP) from those who submitted an interest to sponsor form under the PGP in 2020.

- As of February 5, 2025, the processing time for applications under the PGP outside Quebec is approximately 24 months; destined applications are 48 months for Quebec.

The Agri-Food Pilot (AFIP) is a federal initiative established in 2020 to assist agriculture and agri-food workers in permanently migrating to Canada.

While the program is set to conclude on May 14, 2025, it has closed to new applications as of February 3, 2025.

However, any applications submitted by foreign workers before February 13, 2025, will still be processed.

Those foreign nationals in agri-food jobs seeking to immigrate can explore other permanent residency pathways, including Provincial Nominee Programs, Rural Community Immigration Pilots, Express Entry, and the Atlantic Immigration Program.
