Job Description:
We are seeking an office assistant/receptionist to help with the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced law office. The ideal candidate must be a highly organized, detail-oriented professional. We are looking for a pleasant person who possesses excellent time management and administrative skills with a take charge attitude.

Responsibilities:
•Greeting clients in a professional manner and assisting/directing them as required
•Assisting real estate team members with various duties including: calling business partners, gathering information from clients, etc.
•Assisting with bank runs, as necessary, on a daily basis
•Coordinating signing appointments with clients
•Preparing letters and accounts as needed
•Processing cash and debit payments
•Collecting and distributing incoming mail, faxes and couriers
•Filing correspondence to maintain a tidy, organized office environment
•Preparing final reporting letters to lenders and clients in a timely manner
•Other duties as assigned

Requirements/ Qualifications:
•Successful completion of a post-secondary program
•Law Clerk Diploma, Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario Certificate, or equivalent is an asset
•Valid driver’s licence with an excellent driving record (must have your own transportation)
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
•Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
•Confident and dependable with a drive to complete any task at hand
•A strong ability to work both independently and in a team-based atmosphere
•Extremely detail oriented with strong multi-tasking skills
•Ability to work with tight deadlines in a calm and professional manner

We are seeking a Law Clerk with a minimum of 5 years experience in transactional real estate. The ideal candidate must be a highly organized, detail-oriented professional. We are looking for someone who possesses excellent time management and administrative skills with a take charge attitude.

Responsibilities:
•Preparing and completing all necessary documentation related to the assigned real transaction from the start of the process to the completion of the transaction
•Communicating effectively with clients and business partners to gather necessary information to complete the transaction
•Managing and maintaining an organized file for lawyer review
•Meeting with clients to execute closing documents, when necessary
•Ensuring a smooth closing process for the client
•Reporting directly to lawyer and office manager regarding status of the transaction
•Preparing final reporting letters to lenders and clients in a timely manner

Requirements/ Qualifications:
•Law Clerk Diploma, Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario Certificate, or equivalent
•Minimum 5 years experience as a Real Estate Law Clerk
•Strong understanding and ability to read land titles searches, and to procure copies of registered instruments
•Proficient in Unity, Teraview, Conveyancer and Microsoft Office Suite
•Working knowledge of various video applications is an asset
•Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
•Confident and dependable with a drive to complete the task at hand
•A strong ability to work both independently and in a team-based atmosphere
•Ability to solve problems

Some information for those of you wondering how the HST affects the sale of a home. There is no HST on the sale of resale homes. But beware, the HST does now apply to many of the other costs associated with the sale/purchase of a resale home (real estate commission, legal fees, inspection costs, etc.). The HST does apply to the sale of new homes, subject to the new housing rebate available.

The HST is a new tax being introduced in Ontario, Canada on July 1, 2010. This article gives consumers a guide on how resale real estate transactions in the Province will be impacted.
