The vice-chair job on the Trent Hills Chamber of Commerce board came with a perk last night for Aaron: running the door prize mic at the annual business awards last night at Grand Maple Event Centre! We love this event - attending as well as sponsoring! Bill and Cathy have a really wonderful venue and we get to reminisce about our early days at the Queen Street office when they were still at the variety store. We were lucky to be seated beside Jordan and Jean from The Hub Sauce Co. who took home the Emerging Entrepreneur award and were so happy to be recognized. And when some familiar faces from our office brought around the lavish appetizers from Cakes by Jus, we were delighted (and glad to have had light lunches 😂). Thanks to Nancy and the Chamber team for all of the work that goes into a really excellent evening.

Our office is now closed for the holiday break, reopening January 2 and fully back in action on January 5.

A note of thanks: we are so appreciative of our clients who chose our office for litigation services in 2025 and grateful to our team of staff, paralegals and lawyers for their hard work, good humour and collegial efforts every day.

Best wishes for a very merry festive season - looking forward to 2026!

- Kat & Aaron

We love this photo of our associate lawyer Natalie Geysens showing off her legal muscle on a 500 page affidavit! Natalie is accepting new family law files and also supports our civil cases in conjunction with Kat Kinch, Jenna Khoury-Hanna and Grace Missen. Natalie brings a small town practicality to her work, as she hails from Delhi in Norfolk County and has dug in to life in Trent Hills. She offers client a rational, cool-under-pressure, and highly organized approach, is not daunted by complex dynamics, and already has court experience under her belt as a recent call.

Natalie was called to the bar earlier this year after articling with us (and before that she spent her summers as our student during her time at law school in Ottawa). We are delighted she is fully launched in her counsel role.

We have a long-standing office tradition of accumulating hats for our “hold on to your hat” firm culture. Grace Missen joined our firm in March and has quickly leaped into a bustling practice in employment law, commercial litigation and estate disputes. We are delighted that she realized early in her career that a return to her Northumberland County roots was a better plan than spending years not seeing the sun in a Toronto skyscraper. She brings a strong work ethic, cheerful persistence and scrappy advocacy with her and we can’t wait to see what she does next!

And she has her own hat on the wall now, crocheted by her grandma who is very proud!

Finale day of the CAMH Foundation - so sweet to have office puppy Rio be a very brave little guy at the suspension bridge. Thanks so much to our KEL team for your enthusiasm and commitment to this early morning adventure for mental health research, and we are very grateful to our friends, family and community for donating to our team this year!

Day Four of the CAMH Foundation brought us our first ever proper rain day in the challenge. Sometimes the sun just doesn’t shine. But we found ways to cosy up and greet the day.
