Canada just held its 6th French Express Entry draw of 2026.
Here are the numbers — and what they mean for you

Latest French Draw (May 28, 2026)
• ITAs issued: 4,500
• CRS cut-off: 409
• Draw type: French-Language Proficiency (Category-Based)

2026 French Draw Summary so far:
→ 5 draws held
→ 20,500 iTas
→ Lowest cut-off: 393 CRS (March 18)
→ Highest cut-off this year: 419 CRS

Compare that to the latest CEC (Canadian Experience Class) draw, which ran at 514–518 CRS.

That's an approx 115-point gap.

Before 2024, Express Entry was largely CRS-driven.
Today, it’s policy-driven selection.
IRCC now uses category-based draws to meet:
Labour shortages
Regional & demographic goals
Francophone immigration targets outside Quebec

This means:
A lower CRS candidate with CLB 7 French can now outperform a higher CRS candidate without it.

If your CRS is between 390 and 450, a general CEC draw will not reach you anytime soon — possibly ever in 2026.

But a French draw already has. Twice this month.

What you need to qualify for a French draw:

→ NCLC 7+ in all 4 skills: speaking, listening, reading, writing
→ Test: TEF Canada or TCF Canada (must be under 2 years old)
→ Already in an Express Entry pool (FSW, CEC, or FST)
→ No job offer required. No Canadian study required.

That's it.

3 things to focus on RIGHT NOW if you want an ITA:

1. Test your French — even CLB 5 tells you how far you are from CLB 7
2. Calculate your CRS with and without French added — the jump may surprise you
3. Confirm your NOC code is correct in your profile — occupational draws are live too (healthcare, trades, senior managers)

The window is open. French draws are large, frequent, and accessible.

The only question is whether you are in the pool and eligible when the next one drops.

If you're currently in Canada and feeling stuck despite doing “everything right” — you're not alone.
But the solution isn’t frustration. It’s strategy realignment.

If you have been invited a huge congratulations!

After months of navigating IRCC's increasingly complex process — responding to ADRs, and waiting through the silence that every applicant knows all too well — I'm proud to share that two of my clients have officially received their P1 portal request.

This is what the journey looks like right now:
✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡, 𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
✅ 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 (𝐀𝐃𝐑𝐬)

Let's be honest — working with IRCC today is not for the faint of heart. Processing times are unpredictable, ADR requests have become increasingly common, and the portal system adds another layer of complexity that demands precision and patience.

But moments like these remind me exactly why this work matters.

Finally a much needed change for the WEOI under AAP.

Candidates can now edit their Worker Expression of Interest (WEOI). A few key points to note:

WEOIs remain valid for one year after submission — editing does NOT extend or change that validity.
You may reject invitations to streams you’re not interested in and return to the WEOI pool before the 15‑day invitation period ends.
Candidates who created and paid the WEOI fee between April 7 and May 26, 2026, and cancelled their WEOI only to make edits may request a refund via the Opportunity Alberta contact form.
Not eligible for a refund: anyone who cancelled and then submitted a new WEOI during an invitation period, or who cancelled to update an Express Entry profile.

It is a shame that these kinds of practices continue to take place within visa processing systems that applicants are forced to rely on.

I personally experienced this myself. At the time, I did not fully understand what was happening and, in fear of delays or complications with the application process, I complied and paid the so-called “premium” fees. It never truly felt optional — it felt imposed.

Over the years, many of our clients have gone through the same experience. Applicants, especially from vulnerable backgrounds, are often left feeling pressured into paying extra just to secure appointments or avoid delays.
To address the issue of third parties selling appointment dates, VFS previously introduced a system where applicants had to upload IRCC instruction letters and would randomly receive appointment allocations. Recently, they appear to have moved back toward allowing applicants to choose appointment dates directly again.

The recent CBC investigation highlighting fraud concerns and security risks at some Canadian visa hubs abroad raises serious concerns about oversight, accountability, and the protection of applicants.

There should be stricter compliance measures, stronger monitoring, and greater accountability when awarding and managing these government contracts. Applicants should never feel exploited or pressured while accessing essential services.

An Ottawa man is among critics urging stronger oversight of Canada's international visa hubs — run by a federal contractor paid hundreds of millions taxpayer dollars — after what he describes as "unjustifiable" and "shady" experiences at a visa centre in Bangladesh.

The recent developments surrounding Bill C-12 are deeply concerning.

While the government has framed this legislation as a way to strengthen border security and improve the integrity of Canada’s immigration system, many legal experts, advocacy organizations, and immigration professionals have raised serious concerns about its impact on refugee rights, procedural fairness, and executive accountability.

Bill C-12 introduces measures that could:
• Limit access to refugee protection for vulnerable individuals
• Expand government discretion to suspend or cancel immigration documents on broad “public interest” grounds
• Restrict hearing rights and procedural safeguards
• Increase information-sharing powers with insufficient oversight

As someone working closely within the immigration field, I believe Canada can maintain border integrity without compromising the principles of fairness, due process, and human rights that our system is built upon.

The fact that organizations such as the Canadian Bar Association, refugee advocates, and civil liberties groups have warned that portions of this legislation may conflict with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms should not be ignored.

Constitutional litigation plays an important role in ensuring that laws are balanced, transparent, and accountable. Supporting these legal challenges is not about opposing border security — it is about protecting the rule of law and ensuring that vulnerable individuals continue to receive fair treatment under Canada’s immigration and refugee system.

Immigration lawyers across Canada are co-ordinating a constitutional challenge against Ottawa's new asylum law, with three dozen cases already filed in Federal Court.

Canada has held another Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw under Express Entry. In the latest round, IRCC issued 380 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) with a CRS cut-off score of 798.

This continues the trend of targeted PNP draws in 2026, showing how valuable a provincial nomination remains for candidates looking to secure permanent residence through Express Entry.

A provincial nomination adds 600 additional CRS points, which significantly increases the chances of receiving an ITA.

For candidates currently in the Express Entry pool, this is a reminder to:
• Explore PNP pathways aligned with your occupation and province
• Keep your profile updated
• Improve language scores where possible
• Monitor provincial streams closely as many continue targeting labour shortages

With frequent PNP and category-based draws taking place this year, strategic planning is becoming more important than ever for prospective applicants.

05/04/2026

Canada has announced an important update that could benefit many temporary workers already in the country.

The government is now fast-tracking certain permanent residence (PR) applications under a new initiative often referred to as the TR to PR pathway. This is especially relevant for those who have already applied and are currently waiting for a decision.

Here’s what you need to know in simple terms:

• This is a one-time initiative to help temporary workers become permanent residents faster
• It mainly applies to applicants who have already submitted their PR applications
• Priority is being given to those living and working in smaller or rural communities in Canada for at least two years
• No new application is required — eligible cases will be picked and processed automatically by IRCC

Programs that may benefit from faster processing include:
• Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
• Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP)
• Rural and Francophone community pilots
• Caregiver and Agri-Food pilots

The government plans to transition up to 33,000 workers to permanent residence during 2026–2027, and thousands of approvals have already been issued this year.

What this means for you:

• If you already applied under one of these programs, your application may be processed faster
• If you are working in a rural area, your chances could be higher
• This shows Canada’s strong focus on keeping skilled workers, especially outside major cities

If you are unsure about your eligibility or want to understand how this update may affect your case, feel free to reach out. We are here to guide you with clear and honest advice.

🇨🇦 Just received your PR Nomination or ITA? Congratulations! 🎉

I know many of you prefer to prepare and submit your PR application on your own and that’s completely okay. But at the same time, it’s normal to feel a bit unsure… “Did I fill everything correctly?” “Am I missing anything important?”

That’s exactly where I can support you.

I offer a professional PR application review service where I personally go through your documents, forms, and details, carefully checking everything to make sure it’s accurate, consistent, and aligned with immigration requirements.

💡 Think of it as a second pair of expert eyes—so you can submit your application with confidence and avoid costly mistakes.

If you’d like me to review your application before you submit, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help. 😊
