Starting January 6, 2025, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will adjust service hours at 35 land ports of entry across the Canada-U.S. border. This change aims to enhance security, optimize resource allocation, and improve efficiency.

New Hours of Operation:

Del Bonita: 9 am to 5 pm (7 days a week)

British Columbia:
Cascade: 8 am to 8 pm (7 days a week)
Nelway: 8 am to 6 pm (7 days a week)

Manitoba:
Cartwright, Coulter: 8 am to 4 pm (7 days a week)
Crystal City, Goodlands, Piney, Snowflake, Windygates: 9 am to 5 pm (7 days a week)

🌟 Big News for International Students in Canada! 🌟
International students can work up to 24 hours per week off-campus while their classes are in session. 📚💼
Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Marc Miller, confirmed that this new regulation took effect on November 15. Before this change, the limit was 20 hours per week.
In April 2024, Miller announced that the number of off-campus work hours for international students would increase to 24 hours in the fall. The exact date has not been specified until now.
🔓 Uncapped hours for foreign nationals on study permits:
On campus
Off-campus during academic breaks
According to Miller, this 24-hour cap strikes "the appropriate balance so students have the option to work without compromising academic outcomes."
💡 New Requirement: International students must now apply for a new study permit before changing schools. Previously, they could change schools on the same permit with an update to their IRCC online account.
IRCC states that these changes are part of efforts to "strengthen the integrity of the International Student Program."
