Well, it’s the end of an era! 🏒🥅

My first born J played his last game in minor hockey - I am sad to report that he will be moving up to “beer league” 😭

Watching my kid play today was bittersweet and full of excitement.

J isn’t a goal scorer, that’s not his job. He defends his zone, his goalie. What he is though, is a determined boy who has a deep love of the game, shows up, doesn’t complain, is coachable and pivots when asked.

Today’s game meant nothing in terms of advancement in this championship tournament - win or lose, it was the end of the road.

J started out as a D and was quickly asked to be a Forward “Put me in coach!”. He knew this was his last hockey game and played with all he had and the results showed.

Our team won 2-1 (the other team was undefeated) and this kid right here scored BOTH of these goals (he almost got a hat trick! Holy, it was exciting! 😅). He beamed with pride and confidence. I managed to somehow miss recording the goals (proud mom moment 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️).

As a mom, I strive to instill in my boys the value of grit and hard work, teaching them that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to.

You don’t have to be the #1 player to be a great player. I live that every day!

I am so proud of you and watching you grow into the player and person that you are has been such an enjoyable journey. I know that whatever path you choose in life, you will figure it out! You are truly your mama’s boy! 😉😘
