Pratt Legal Services has lost its furry support officer. Yoda sadly crossed the Rainbow Bridge on August 6th. He was a big part of this practice letting his sympathy shine through on phone or zoom calls. His calmness helped me re-focus during stressful times and he will always be my heart dog ❀️🐢🐾

Today is Voting Day in Canada ! Did you know?? Your employer must give you time off to vote if your working hours don't give you three clear hours in which to vote??

Example if your work hours are during the time when the polls are open your employer must give you time to do so.

What Does November 11th (Remembrance Day) Mean to me?

On November 11th, we all remember those who sacrificed their lives and to those whose commitment helped shape our world! 🌎

However this day for me means so much more!

Today is a day I am thankful for others sacrifice so my family could come to be! The war brought my grandfather Canadian James Victor Pratt and French Charlotte Arnaudo together in love in a way my family will never forget! During the war my Nanny lived in an occupied town in the south of France where she worked as a nurse. Due to only what can be described as a miracle the stars aligned in such a way that my Papa with the Canadian Air Force in Africa came down with Malaria and had to stay behind and join a company of American Troops while the Canadian Company went one direction the Americans went through the town that my Nanny lived. I realize and understand that my family would not exist if not for the loss of millions of people and the strange events that aligned for them to meet at a liberation dance held by the town as a thank-you for the soldiers who helped liberate the town. He saw her once as "the girl with beautiful brown hair and the red dress". He didn't know her name, and what little broken Canadian French he knew they danced the night away, until she disappeared (which is a family legend) the next day he went through the town square looking for the girl again using what little French he a learned in school he found a young boy who took the time to listen to the description of the girl.. the boy replied to follow him and he thinks he knew the girl. They walk up the winding cobblestone streets and they finally approach a door... and THERE SHE IS....the beautiful girl....the young boy was her brother. Thus began the love story that was the start of our family. (When us grandkids came around we of course asked where the heck she went at the dance.... she said "oh I had promised to go with someone else but I didn't really like him and I saw him there when your Papa and I were dancing so instead of saying anything, I just snuck out the bathroom window).

My Papa and Nanny were one of the biggest inspirations in my life! I will always be so proud of both of them! I am honoured to be a Pratt and honoured to have such loving, caring, compassionate and brilliant grandparents!

They will always be my heroes, I will never forget!
