You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers!

1. The length of mediation depends on the complexity of the issues and how well the parties communicate and cooperate.

2. You don’t have to hire a lawyer to participate in mediation, but it can be helpful to have legal advice. Many people choose to consult a lawyer before or after mediation to ensure they understand their rights and obligations.

3. The cost of mediation varies depending on the complexity of the issues being addressed. We offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional litigation. The total cost depends on the number of sessions required.

4. The amount of support you may be required to pay depends on several factors, such as your income, the needs of the children or spouse, and any applicable legal guidelines. In mediation, we work together to find an arrangement that is fair and realistic for both parties that is guided by the Child Support Guidelines and Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines.

5. No, having a separation agreement does not mean you are divorced. A separation agreement is a legally binding document that outlines the terms of your separation, such as parenting time, support, and division of assets. However, you are still legally married until you go through the divorce process, which requires filing for divorce in court. We can help you with that too!

Whether you’re mediating with us or came to an Agreement elsewhere, there are common documents requiring notarization following a separation. This may include financial statements, travel consent letters for a minor, or the Agreement itself.
