Canada invites 2000 candidates for permanent residency through the latest Express Entry draw. These candidates had a minimum CRS score of 533. All program draws have been resumed since July 6th 2022 including the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).

Canada plans to create a new permanent program for temporary residents including temporary foreign workers and international students. This program will be similar to the “TR2PR Program” that was introduced in 2021 and invited 90,000 essential workers and student graduates according to Immigration Minister Sean Fraser.

The IRCC has invited 636 Express Entry candidates for permanent residence from the PNP category. Candidates in this stream had a minimum CRS score of 752. The IRCC plans to begin all program draws on July 6th 2022. This includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). The IRCC also has Bill C-19 in progress which would allow for candidates who meet the government’s economic priorities to immigrate to Canada, primarily to cover labour shortages.

British Columbia and PEI hold draws and invite candidates through their provincial nominee programs. BC invited more than 175 candidates from Skilled Workers International Graduate, and Entry Level and Semi-skilled categories. The minimum score was between 77 and 123. PEI invited 153 candidates from Express Entry, Labour Impact, and Business Impact categories with a minimum score of 62.

Most new Express Entry applications will be processed within the next 6 months. The IRCC will resume its invitations to the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), CEC, and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) in July 2022. The IRCC plans to normalize processing times for Express Entry to 6 months from 20 months.

The immigration backlog in Canada has surpassed 2.1 million applications for citizenship, immigration, and temporary residence. Immigration Minister, Sean Fraser, plans for normal processing times for 2023 as he spoke before the Canadian Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration. To support his claims, the IRCC has implemented measures to improve processing times such as modernizing and digitizing the immigration system using its $827 million budget.

The most recent Express Entry draw has invited 545 candidates to apply for permanent residence from the PNP category. These candidates have previously been granted a provincial nomination from one of Canada’s provinces. Through the nomination, candidates are awarded 600 points towards their CRS score. The minimum CRS score for this draw was 753. In addition, FSWP and CEC draws are planned to resume July 2022.

Express Entry draws for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) are set to resume July 2022, according to Immigration Minister Sean Fraser. The FSWP has not invited candidates since December 2020 to reduce application numbers. The CEC has also not held a draw since September 2021.
