🏠 GTA HOME SALES & PRICES DROP IN AUGUST
The Greater Toronto Area housing market continued to cool in August, with both sales and prices declining compared with a year ago.
• 5,057 homes sold — down 2.1% year-over-year
• Sales fell 1.3% from July on a seasonally adjusted basis
• Average selling price: $993,410 — down 2.7% year-over-year
• Benchmark home price fell 4.5%
• Average price dropped below $1 million for only the second time this year
• 12,075 new listings — down 14.1% from August last year
TRREB says tighter inventory could eventually put upward pressure on prices, leaving some buyers to decide whether to wait for more economic certainty or purchase before prices move higher.
