🚨 Before you send that workplace complaint email, read this.

Most employees write:

"This is unfair."

"I'm being treated badly."

"I'm unhappy."

The problem?

Those statements don't clearly explain what's happening.

If you believe you're facing discrimination, harassment, or retaliation, be specific.

Document:
βœ”οΈ What happened
βœ”οΈ When it happened
βœ”οΈ Who was involved
βœ”οΈ How it's affecting your job

And most importantly, create a written record.

Too many employees wait until things escalate before they start documenting.

By then, key evidence may already be gone.

The emails you send today could become some of the most important evidence tomorrow.

πŸ“Œ Save this post. You never know when you'll need it.

Before you sign a severance package, ask yourself one question:

"Do I know what I'm actually entitled to?"

If the answer is no...

Don't sign yet.

Many employees assume the offer they're given is non-negotiable.

Sometimes it is.

Often, it isn't.

The problem is you'll never know the difference if you rush.

Take your time.
Review the documents.
Understand the release.

Because once you sign, there's usually no going back.

Same job. Same company.
Different severance.

Why?

Because severance in Ontario is not fixed βš–οΈ

It depends on:
β€’ Age
β€’ Experience
β€’ Role
β€’ Job market

That’s it.

Not everyone gets the same outcome.

And the first offer?
Often not the final one.

πŸ“Œ Save this.

"Sign by Monday."

If you've just been fired, that deadline is often designed to create pressure βš–οΈ

Many employees assume they have to sign a severance package immediately.

They don't.

A severance agreement usually includes a release, meaning once you sign, you may be giving up your right to pursue additional compensation or legal claims against your employer.

The biggest mistake employees make?
Signing before understanding what they're actually entitled to.

In Ontario, severance can often exceed the minimum standards under the Employment Standards Act, particularly for long-service employees, managers, and professionals.

Before you sign:
βœ”οΈ Read every document carefully
βœ”οΈ Ask questions
βœ”οΈ Understand your rights

Because once you sign, the conversation is usually over.
