If your first PRRA application is refused, you generally need to meet the required 12-month waiting period before you can submit another PRRA application, subject to applicable exceptions.

πŸ“Œ Don’t assume you can simply reapply after a refusal. Your eligibility and the timing of a subsequent PRRA depend on your specific circumstances.

BIG U.S. VISA NEWS FOR APPLICANTS IN CANADA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

The U.S. Department of State has introduced a new paid expedited appointment pilot program for certain visa applicants applying through the U.S. Embassy and consulates in Canada.

Under this initiative, eligible applicants seeking B-category visitor or business visas may have the option to pay an additional US$750 expedited appointment fee to access an earlier interview slot β€” potentially within 10 business days, depending on appointment availability.

The standard visa application (MRV) fee remains US$185, bringing the total minimum cost to approximately US$935 per applicant for those choosing the expedited option.

The pilot program reportedly began in Canada on August 18, 2026, and is expected to remain available until December 31, 2026.

This could be particularly helpful for applicants dealing with lengthy regular interview wait times at U.S. consulates in Canada.

⚠️ Important: The additional US$750 payment is for access to an expedited interview appointment only. It does not increase your chances of visa approval or guarantee that a visa will be issued. The expedited fee is also non-refundable, including in cases of visa refusal, cancellation, or a missed appointment.

Canadian permanent residents, international students, temporary foreign workers, and other eligible residents considering a U.S. visitor or business visa should carefully review the eligibility requirements before choosing the expedited service.

Planning to apply for a U.S. B1/B2 visa from Canada? Make sure you understand your options, eligibility, and costs before applying.
