In Ontario, specially licensed Family Legal Services Providers (FLSPs) can assist with certain family law services, including:

📋 Family Court Guidance — Help navigating court procedures and understanding the steps involved.

💔 Joint & Uncontested Divorces — Assistance preparing applications where both parties agree and the matter meets the licence requirements.

👶 Child Support Changes — Help with certain motions to change child support based on straightforward income information.

💰 Support Enforcement — Assistance responding to certain Family Responsibility Office enforcement proceedings.

📝 Family Agreements — Filing eligible domestic contracts with the court.

🔤 Change of Name Applications — Help preparing the necessary applications.

⚖️ The FLSP licence has a specific, limited scope. It does not authorize a paralegal to handle every family law dispute, so it’s important to determine whether your situation qualifies.

There’s a new muse for Ms. Bent that is a collective of her everyday skills of bone crushing and being equal to that of a police dog when litigating for her clients. And what better friend than our new friend “Yakoteriios” (pronounced iako- / yak-) meaning “She Fights” in Mohawk language. We think the yellow girly collar is the perfect delicate feminine touch our new mascot needs.

Incredibly proud of our firm and the growth that we have had, especially in my hometown. Brampton is not an easy place to win any kind of trust or standing with a plethora of amazing legal talent. I am very proud of my firm and super excited to share that these results came in this morning and we couldn’t be happier. Truth and Reconciliation Day✓

🧡 Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause, we listen, we remember, and we reflect.

At Bent Law Legal Services we are especially proud to recognize the strength, leadership, and contributions of Indigenous women — not only today, but every day.

We are honoured to have not one, but two Indigenous women working in law and serving our community. Felicia and Stephanie both of Mohawk decent present with their warrior spirit and heart in all they do and help members of the community through outreach and support. Their presence is something to celebrate: Indigenous women bringing their knowledge, experience, compassion, advocacy, and strength into the legal profession and into the communities they serve.

Today is about more than wearing orange. It is about remembering the children who never returned home, honouring Survivors and their families, acknowledging the truths of Canada’s history, and committing ourselves to the ongoing work of reconciliation.

Reconciliation requires listening. It requires learning. And it requires action.

Today, we stand with Indigenous communities, honour the Survivors, remember the children, and recognize the important role Indigenous voices — particularly Indigenous women — continue to play in building stronger, more just communities.
