Thanks to my colleague Darlene Dort for hosting an amazing neighborhood party in Walnut Grove this rainy Halloween featuring a mini petting zoo with rabbits and chickens, a real fire to warm up at, and some great baking and company. Our little lion (and us) got to recharge before going back out into the rain for more candy!

Excited for The Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC)’s 2022 Employment Law Conference today and tomorrow. So many great presentations on the agenda from my employment law colleagues.

Jesse Dunning and I have teamed up with colleagues Navpreet and Tanvir from Inlet Employment Law and will be presenting our Paper “Behind (Closed) Office Doors: A Vicarious Liability Update” at 11:30am tomorrow May 6.

We will be providing an overview and update of vicarious liability in the workplace, discussing employer/employee indemnity issues, and examining the topic of liability for sexual misconduct with best practices for lawyers.

Sharing some highlights from our very first Employment & Labour Group Retreat this past weekend at Whistler.

From shared car rides, skiing and snowboarding (some for the first time!), Scandinavian Spa relaxation, team dinners, and walks around the village, it was a blast for everyone (lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants) to just relax and get to know each other better with no work talk allowed.

I feel so fortunate to have such a strong and diverse team working with and around me at KSW Lawyers. Excited to do it all again next year!

Was a pleasure attending the Human Resources Director Canada Employment Law Masterclass yesterday and seeing so many good presentations from my employment law colleagues.

I gave a talk on Occupational Health and Safety Issues, focusing on the duty of employers and HR professionals (as “supervisors”) to keep workers safe and healthy during and after the pandemic in the new era of hybrid working.
