❇️ CCBE President Roman Zavrsek had the honour of representing the CCBE at the Union International des Avocats - UIA Bar Leaders’ Briefing at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
⚖️ The briefing focused on the responsibility of Bars, Law Societies, and lawyers in upholding the rule of law, access to justice, and human rights, including initiatives to protect the human rights of the most vulnerable persons. Discussions also explored human rights-based approaches to intellectual property and AI.
💡 During the Bar Leaders Round Table on AI, innovation, human rights and professional rules of ethics, President Roman Zavrsek highlighted the importance of ensuring that AI is governed in line with the fundamental values of the legal profession and the principles of the rule of law.
➡️ He also stressed a key principle: while technology can support lawyers and judges, responsibility for justice must always remain human.
🤝 The round table brought together Raphaël Dana, Barreau de Paris / Ordre des avocats de Paris; Shinobu Ikeue, Japan Federation of Bar Associations; Mabel Klimt, INCAM (Madrid Bar Association); and Roman Zavrsek, CCBE President, for a fruitful exchange on the opportunities and responsibilities that AI brings to the legal profession.

❇️ Le président du CCBE, Roman Zavrsek, a eu l’honneur de représenter le CCBE lors du Sommet des présidents de barreaux organisé par l’UIA (Union Internationale des Avocats) au Palais des Nations à Genève, en Suisse.
⚖️ Ce sommet était axé sur la responsabilité des barreaux et des avocats dans la défense de l’état de droit, de l’accès à la justice et des droits humains, y compris les initiatives visant à protéger les droits humains des personnes les plus vulnérables. Les discussions ont également porté sur des approches fondées sur les droits humains en matière de propriété intellectuelle et d’intelligence artificielle.
💡 Lors de la table ronde des bâtonniers consacrée à l’intelligence artificielle, à l’innovation, aux droits humains et aux règles déontologiques, le président Roman Zavrsek a souligné l’importance de veiller à ce que l’intelligence artificielle soit régie conformément aux valeurs fondamentales de la profession d’avocat et aux principes de l’état de droit.
➡️ Il a également insisté sur un principe essentiel : si la technologie peut venir en aide aux avocats et aux juges, la responsabilité de la justice doit toujours rester humaine.
