A significant milestone was accomplished towards justice.
The 🇧🇩Interim Government just approved Bangladesh's joining the UN CONVENTION on PROTECTION FOR ALL PERSONS from the Enforced Disappearance, as the newest (76th) party to the Convention. With this, Bangladesh is now party to all the nine core human rights treaties, manifesting people's aspirations following a unique uprising that the nation witnessed just three weeks back.
Chief Adviser, HE Prof. Muhammad Muhammad Yunus, has already signed the Instrument as the UN observes 30th August as Int'l Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
In South Asia, to date, Sri Lanka and Maldives have ratified the Convention.
