The Russian Federation has recognised the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, controlled by separatists, as independent territories and has sent Russian troops to these territories in violation of international law. In response to the expansion of the Russian invasion, further sanctions have been announced against Russia in the areas of finance, energy, transport, and visa policy – and the export controls already in place are being expanded to include other technology products and software.
Strict rules apply to trade with Russia starting immediately, and violators face severe fines.
