আজ আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস। এই দিনটি কেবল ভাষাগত বৈচিত্র্যের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানানোই নয়, বরং মাতৃভাষায় কথা বলা, শেখা ও নিজেকে প্রকাশ করার অধিকারকে সম্মান জানানোরও দিন।

ফাওজিয়া করিম অ্যান্ড এসোসিয়েটসে আমরা প্রতিটি ব্যক্তির মৌলিক অধিকার, বিশেষ করে সাংস্কৃতিক ও ভাষাগত পরিচয়ের অধিকারকে সুরক্ষিত রাখার জন্য প্রতিজ্ঞাবদ্ধ। ভাষার স্বীকৃতি শুধু যোগাযোগের বিষয় নয়, এটি ন্যায়বিচার, অন্তর্ভুক্তি ও মর্যাদার প্রতীক।

আজকের এই দিনে আমরা গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সঙ্গে স্মরণ করি সেই অকুতোভয় শহীদদের, যারা মাতৃভাষায় কথা বলার অধিকার রক্ষায় আত্মত্যাগ করেছেন। তাদের আত্মত্যাগ শুধু বাংলাদেশের নয়, বিশ্বব্যাপী ভাষাগত স্বাধীনতার পথ প্রশস্ত করেছে।

আইনজীবী হিসেবে, আমরা সমতা ও প্রত্যেকটি কণ্ঠের স্বাধীনতা এবং সুরক্ষা নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে কাজ করছি, যাতে ন্যায়বিচার সকল ভাষায় প্রবাহিত হতে পারে। আসুন, মাতৃভাষাকে স্বাধীনতা ও পরিচয়ের প্রতীক হিসেবে সংরক্ষণ ও উদযাপন করি।

On December 11, 2024, representatives from Fawzia Karim & Associates attended the Civil Society Roundtable on Legal Reform, organized by the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL).

As Bangladesh navigates a political transition, legal reforms affecting civil society are more critical than ever. A strong and independent civil society is vital for democracy, human rights, and accountability. The roundtable focused on key regulatory challenges, building on ICNL’s work under the Promoting Advocacy & Rights program (USAID, Counterpart International).

The insights from this discussion will contribute to a memorandum of recommendations, set to be presented to the Interim Government. We are honored to be part of this important initiative and remain committed to promoting a fair and just legal framework for civil society.

An insightful exchange on women's empowerment and global legal initiatives took place on 28th October’24 as Ms. Michelle Schein Congressional Advisor in the Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues, visited our law chamber- Fawzia Karim & Associates, joined by Anne Daugherty Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy Dhaka.

Ms. Schein engaged in a productive discussion with our Head of Chamber, Senior Advocate Fawzia Karim Firoze, exploring collaborative efforts to advance gender equality and strengthen women’s rights.
