USING A TRUST FOR YOUR BUSINESS OR PROPERTY?

Queensland’s Trusts Act 2025 introduced significant changes to trust law. The Act’s remaining provisions commenced on 28 April 2026.

For businesses and property owners using a trust structure, those changes may be relevant when dealing with:

• Property ownership
• Commercial transactions
• Restructuring
• Trustee powers and obligations
• Existing trust arrangements

A trust structure isn’t something to simply “set and forget”.

If your business or property is held in a trust, consider whether your arrangements need a review under the current framework.

13 years at PFL is a milestone worth celebrating.

From newly admitted solicitor to family lawyer, firm owner, leader and lawyer mum, Megan has spent the past 13 years advocating for clients, building a firm, raising a family and navigating the many lessons that come with a career in law.

Along the way, she has learned that preparation matters, compassion and strong advocacy can go hand in hand, boundaries make you better at what you do, and sometimes “it depends” really is the right answer.

Most importantly, she has built a career on her own terms, while supporting people through some of the most challenging chapters of their lives.
