Demerger of South32 by BHP Billiton
BHP Billiton have announced details of the proposal under which it plans to unlock shareholder value through the creation of a new global diversified metals and mining company named South32. This new company will contain assets producing Alumina, aluminium, coal, manganese, nickel, silver, lead and zinc whilst BHP Billiton will focus on its core assets of Petroleum, copper, Iron ore and coal.

This demerger proposal will be put before a meeting of shareholders to vote on. Further details of the offer will be released in due course.
