Kerrie Johnson founded the firm in January 1996, initially trading as KERRIE JOHNSON & ASSOCIATES. Having started as a principal with one secretary, the firm has steadily grown over the years in order to meet the increasing demand for quality legal services. In 1998, Tim Horsley joined the firm, becoming a partner in 2001. In 2002, the firm changed its name to JOHNSON HORSLEY LAWYERS and in 2010,
moved to its current address close to Wollongong train station and just a short walk from the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and Wollongong Local & District Court in the Wollongong CBD. In 2022 the firm now starts a new journey with Katie Vardanega becoming a partner in the firm, and the firm changing its name to JOHNSON VARDANEGA LAWYERS. Katie joined the firm as a law clerk in 2011 and has proven herself a capable and efficient solicitor, ready to lead this firm whilst delivering trustworthy legal representation to the Illawarra.
