For separated families, Father's Day can carry a lot of weight. Who has the children, how the day is handed over, whether it feels fair.

A little planning ahead helps. Agreeing arrangements in advance, keeping the handover calm, and letting children enjoy the day without feeling caught in the middle all make a real difference.

If special days are a recurring source of conflict, they can be written into your parenting arrangements so the same conversation does not happen every year.

The first day of spring often brings a quiet shift in how people feel.

If the past year has been heavy, whether through separation, loss, or a decision you have been putting off, a change of season can be a useful prompt to take one small step forward.

You do not need a plan for everything. You just need somewhere to start.

I want to take a moment to recognise someone on our team who continues to inspire me.

Ella, my assistant, and her family have built something remarkable in memory of her brother Jack. The Jack Watts Legacy Golf Day, now in its third year, raises funds for the Mater Rare Cancers Hub, and today our team had the privilege of being part of it as a sponsor.

It was a lovely day on the course, but more than that, it was a reminder that the people around us are often carrying extraordinary things with grace and purpose. We are proud to stand beside Ella and her family in supporting this cause.

Separation can feel like a lot to process, especially when children, property or future plans are involved.

You do not need to work everything out at once. The first step is understanding your options, getting clear advice and making decisions one step at a time.

You don't have to be in the same room to reach an agreement.

Shuttle mediation means the mediator moves between separate spaces, so you and the other party never need to be face-to-face if that doesn't feel safe or comfortable.

The process is structured around what works for you, not the other way around.

Mediation can be a faster, lower-conflict path to resolution for parenting arrangements, property matters and more.

If you're about to get married or move in together, this one is worth reading first.

Love Law: What to know before you say 'I do' covers the legal side of relationships in plain language, from what marriage actually means legally to property, prenuptial agreements, blended families, estate planning and more.

Written by our Principal Lawyer, Elizabeth Fairon, it's the guide she wishes every client had read before they came to see her.

Being named as an executor is something many people don't think about until the moment it becomes real.

The role involves managing a person's estate, including their assets, debts and distributions, but you are not expected to know how to do it all from the outset.

Most executors are navigating grief at the same time, and that matters. We have written a guide that breaks down what the role actually involves, what your obligations are, and how to move through the process with confidence.

Most people going through separation ask: "What money is mine and can't be touched?" In Australian family law, very little is automatically off limits.

The law doesn't divide things into "yours" and "theirs." It looks at the overall financial positions of both parties and determines what is just and equitable.

A better question to ask is: "How will this be taken into account?" That shift in thinking can change everything.

Your will covers more than just who gets what. It names your executor, sets out how your assets are distributed, and, if you have children, nominates a guardian for them.

Getting those details right matters more than most people realise.

Our estate planning team can help you think through everything that needs to be in place.
