Three important points for overseas students for possible future permanent residence apart from any points test.

1. Maintaining visa conditions
a) Enrolment and studying in same AQF level course for which original visa was issued.
b) Work hours - No more work than allowed on visa. Both main student and spouse are only allowed 20 hours during study days.

2. Any Serious criminal conviction
a) Be it a AVO, domestic violence or assault
b) Any reporting to police by either partner can have a lasting effect on prospects of future visa applications

3 . Traffic Offences Convictions
a) Any drink driving charges are very serious matters
b) Driving while suspended charges
c) Causing serious accident while on overseas licence

Overseas students especially from the countries with no serious accountability and overstretched police and legal systems should take any legal matters in Australia seriously.

Any ignorance and negligence by not addressing the problems in a correct way can leave lot of students without opportunity to apply for a substantial permanent visa.
All the hard earned money and hard work put to gain the qualifications in Australia can go waste.
