As one of our smaller areas of practice we deal with a lot of minor traffic and criminal offences. Sometimes they can be quite amusing like when one of us received a traffic fine and wished to challenge it.

There was a lot of talk about how unfair and unreasonable the fine was, until we saw the images that had one of the rear wheels of the BMW 550i spinning freely above the road. The office comedians had lots of comments about the likely G-forces and speed in this example of bad driving.

Suffice to say that there was no contest and the fine was paid.

A Crisis Is When You Can't Say "Let's Forget the Whole Thing.”

The saying is known as “Ferguson's Precept” and might be considered a method of dealing with stress and anxiety in business.

In the current Covid-19 global pandemic, the normal rules and conduct of business have changed, and some things are a crisis and some things are not. Statutory Demands and limits regarding insolvency (including trading while insolvent) have been summarily amended; national and state politicians have issued statements on how legal terms are to be treated by the Courts, Landlords, Creditors or Debtors. It is a crazy new world, but it pays to be prepared.

The important aspect for our clients is to be well-informed and connected to sources of information and market leaders in the financial, retail, property and building sectors; if you have to take a gamble, it is not just the legal aspects, but to be as commercially well-informed as possible. Just ask us about our opinion today.

Not a huge surprise - but a very real worry for the industry.

Building surveyors have been hit hard by the cladding crisis engulfing Australia, with hundreds of the nation’s surveyors unable to get indemnity insurance unless laws are changed.
