If you or someone you know uses a hidden phone for safety, please be aware that a nationwide AusAlert test will take place at 2:00pm AEST on Monday, 27 July.
During the test, all mobile devices will:
📳 Vibrate
📱 Display an emergency message
🔊 Play a loud siren-like sound even if they are on silent or Do Not Disturb.
For people experiencing family or domestic violence, this could increase the risk of a hidden phone being discovered.
If it isn't safe to receive the alert, consider:
✈️ Turning on Airplane Mode or switching the device off at least one hour before the test, and
📴 Leaving it off for 24 hours after the test.
Please note the alert will also be received on:
• Smart watches
• Children's safety watches
• Tablets
• Apple CarPlay devices

AusAlert is Australia’s new national warning system.
It does not replace VicEmergency and will only be used in certain situations.
AusAlert is being tested at 2 pm on Monday 27 July.
What to expect: You’ll get an alert on your mobile device. It will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds - even if your phone is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.
Safety: If this test could cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time. Leave them off for at least one hour.
As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything. However, in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.
