Stuck in a degree that feels wrong? You can change, but the "6-Month Rule" is strict.

1️⃣ Before 6 Months: You are locked in with your current provider. To leave, you need a "Letter of Release," which is rarely granted without a compassionate reason.
2️⃣ After 6 Months: You are generally free to transfer to a new provider! 🎉
3️⃣ The Golden Rule: To avoid applying for a new $2,000+ visa, your new course must be at the Same AQF Level or Higher (e.g., Bachelor to Bachelor).

🚫 Dropping to a lower level (e.g., Bachelor to Diploma)? You WILL need a new visa, and the risks of refusal are higher in 2025.

Attention Student! Ensure you have the mandatory documents ready before your Student Visa expires.

Congratulations on finishing your course! 🥳 Now comes the scary part: The Subclass 485 Visa application.

Unlike the Student Visa, the 485 visa has "Time of Application" requirements. This means if you don't hold these specific documents on the day you click submit, your visa could be refused.

✅ AFP Police Check: You must have applied for this before you submit your visa application. You can upload the receipt, but the date on the receipt must be earlier than your visa application date.
✅ OVHC Insurance: Your student insurance (OSHC) is not enough! You need to switch to "Overseas Visitor Health Cover" (OVHC) to be eligible.
✅ English Test: Even if you studied here, check if your passport requires a valid PTE/IELTS score. It must be valid at the time of application.

💡 Pro Tip: You have 6 months from the date on your "Completion Letter" (not your graduation ceremony!) to apply.
