Australia is one of the great country to get a first-rate education, but also it is a wonderful place to live and work. Many international students who study in Australia choose to apply for permanent residency after they finish their studies. As an overseas student on a student visa you can apply for permanent residency under Australia’s General Skilled Migration program (GSM). There are many dif

ferent types of permanent residency visas but Skilled – Independent (Residence) visa (subclass 885) focuses on skilled migration for students who have graduated from Australian study. When you’re considering applying for an Australian visa, whether temporary or permanent, it’s very important that you obtain a proper eligibility assessment from accredited professionals, based on your own personal circumstances. For example: eligibility for Australian permanent residence involves more than passing a points test, so it’s vital your whole situation is considered before you apply and risk a visa refusal and losing your application fee of AUD $2,525. If you are not eligible now, it’s also important to get proper advice to maximize your chances of eligibility in the future eg you may be eligible for permanent residence after studying in Australia. Our immigration lawyers, migration agents and education counsellors are very experienced; we can answer all your questions and assess your eligibility for all Australian visas including temporary work visas and permanent residence. Migration to Australia has reduced significantly since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic due to widespread travel bans and border closures, but it is expected to bounce back in 2022. As Australia seeks to increase migration as part of its economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, here is some of the major immigration changes that have been announced.

That’s according information released earlier this month, shows while net migration was forecast to be reduced 41,000 people in 2021-22, it is expected to increase to 180,000 people in 2022-23, that almost double the previous estimate. Australia’s migration program is set annually and runs from 1 July to 30 June each financial year. The 2024-25 forecast remains at 235,000

International students who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will not be required to quarantine after entering New South Wales, the government has announced.

According to the state government, in order to avoid isolation, international students returning to New South Wales must be vaccinated with one of the vaccines recognized by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), www.mystudyinaustralia.com reports.

The first chartered plane of international students returning to NSW under the state’s International Student Arrivals Pilot Plan is expected to touch down in Sydney on December 6, 2021.

As the plan foresees, the first plane will bring about 250 students to Sydney, nationals of more than 15 countries, including the following:

Indonesia
Singapore
Vietnam
South Korea
China
Canada
“In partnership with industry, we are continuing with our plans to return up to 500 students to the state by the end of the year and will provide any update as soon as possible,” the NSW government noted.

Meanwhile, students from South Asia and India are expected to return with the second flight.

Premier Dominic Perrottet stressed that the role of international education in connecting NSW to the world is vital, adding that nearly 290,000 students have been studying in the state before the pandemic hit, supporting more than 95,000 full-time jobs.

“This is a significant milestone in our roadmap to recovery and I can’t wait to welcome back such an important part of our community. They don’t just make a significant contribution to our economy, but international students play a role in our culture and contribute to our community and lifestyle,” Perrottet said.

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney and Minister for Trade and Industry Stuart Ayres said that the Commonwealth Government must give approval to students so the latter can be allowed to travel to Australia.

Ayres also welcomed the collaboration with the Commonwealth Government in supporting international students as they return to NSW.

“This sends a clear message about how much NSW values our international students,” Ayres added.

International students will accommodate at student accommodation provider Scape, after the latter decided to partner with NSW government and education sector to support returning students under the pilot plan.

Most international students enrolled at Australian universities have been unable to enter the country since March 2020, when Australia closed its international borders. The latest announcement of the government to start allowing international students enter by December 2021 gave more hope to students remaining overseas since then.

Most recently, Australia recognized the Covaxin vaccine, manufactured by Bharat Biotech, India, meaning that international students vaccinated with it will also be permitted to enter Australia

Australia is set to safely reopen to the world, with international travel to restart for vaccinated Australians from November.

Australians who have had both doses of an Australian-recognised COVID vaccine will be able to leave and return to Australia from November and then quarantine at home for 7 days.

As we reach 80% of Australians aged 16+ fully vaccinated, inbound and outbound travel restrictions will be lifted for fully vaccinated Australians, permanent residents and family members.

Australians will be able to quarantine at home, in states and territories that have signed up to 7 days home quarantine.

Australian border to reopen for first time in pandemic
1 October 2021, 04:11 BST

Australia will end its international travel ban next month when most of its population becomes fully vaccinated
Australia will reopen its international border from November, giving long-awaited freedoms to vaccinated citizens and their relatives.
Since March 2020, Australia has had some of the world's strictest border rules - even banning its own people from leaving the country.
The policy has been praised for helping to suppress Covid, but it has also controversially separated families.
"It's time to give Australians their lives back," PM Scott Morrison said.

People would be eligible to travel when their state's vaccination rate hit 80%, he told a press briefing on Friday.
Travel would not immediately be open to foreigners, but the government said it was working "towards welcoming tourists back to our shores".
At present, people can leave Australia only for exceptional reasons such as essential work or visiting a dying relative.
Entry is permitted for citizens and others with exemptions, but there are tight caps on arrival numbers. This has left tens of thousands stranded overseas.

On Friday, Mr Morrison said Australia's mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine - which costs each traveller A$3,000 (£1,600; $2,100) - would be phased out.

It will be replaced by seven days of home quarantine for vaccinated travellers. When unvaccinated travellers are later given permission to enter, they must do 14 days.
Demand for flights is expected to be high and airlines have already warned of delays in resuming services.
Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra are currently in lockdown due to outbreaks of the virus. That has helped prompt a surge in the vaccine uptake in recent months.

New South Wales - which includes Sydney - is on track to be first state to cross the 80% threshold, in a few weeks. Victoria - containing Melbourne - is not far behind.
But states such as Queensland and Western Australia have threatened to keep their borders closed until vaccine rates are even higher.
These states have managed to maintain Covid rates at or near zero, after shutting their borders to states with infections

International travel will be open to vaccinated Australians for the first time in 18 months.

Berejiklian also confirmed NSW was planning to allow international travel when the state reached 80% double vaccination – hopefully in November – and that home quarantine for returning travellers “was a definite”.

The premier also says vaccinated international travellers could begin flying in for Christmas, as the state records 1,116 new Covid cases and four deaths
