🇦🇺 LATEST UPDATE ON AUSTRALIA’S 482 SKILLED VISA PRIORITY PROCESSING – 2026

The Australian Department of Home Affairs has continued updating visa processing priorities under Ministerial Direction No.105.

This directly impacts processing times for Subclass 482/SID visas and other skilled migration pathways.

📌 CURRENT VISA PROCESSING PRIORITIES:

✅ 1. Applications for Regional Areas Receive Higher Priority

Employer-sponsored applications located in designated regional areas are being prioritised, including:

• Subclass 482
• Subclass 186
• Subclass 494
• Subclass 187

➡️ This is one of the key reasons why regional sponsorship applications are currently being processed significantly faster.

✅ 2. Healthcare & Teaching Occupations Remain Strongly Prioritised

Priority occupations include:

• Nursing
• Aged Care
• Teaching
• Healthcare Support
• Psychology
• Social Work
• Childcare
• Medical Technicians

…and related sectors.

👉 Australia continues to face critical workforce shortages in these industries.

✅ 3. Accredited Sponsors Receive Faster Processing

If the sponsoring employer holds Accredited Sponsor status (recognised by the Australian Government as a highly trusted sponsor), visa applications may be processed more quickly.

➡️ This explains why some applications submitted at the same time can have very different processing timelines.

📌 IMPORTANT NOTES:

The Department of Home Affairs emphasises that:

❗ Incomplete applications may significantly delay visa processing.
❗ Applications can be refused without a request for further documents.
❗ “Decision-ready” applications have a major advantage.

👉 Therefore, applicants should prepare all required documents carefully from the beginning, including:

• Skills assessment
• Health examination
• Police clearance
• Employment evidence
• English proficiency

📊 CURRENT 482 VISA PROCESSING TIMES:

• Core Skills Stream: approximately 21 working days (median)
• Specialist Skills Stream: approximately 7 working days (median)

However:

⚠️ Applications outside priority categories may experience considerably longer waiting times.

📌 CONCLUSION:

In 2026, Australia is clearly prioritising:

✔ Regional applications
✔ Healthcare occupations
✔ Teaching occupations
✔ Accredited Sponsors
✔ Well-prepared, decision-ready applications

Applications submitted hastily, with missing documents, or under weaker sponsors may find it increasingly difficult to compete for faster processing.

🇦🇺 CẬP NHẬT MỚI NHẤT VỀ THỨ TỰ ƯU TIÊN XÉT VISA TAY NGHỀ ÚC 482 – 2026
Bộ Nội Vụ Úc vừa tiếp tục cập nhật chính sách ưu tiên xử lý hồ sơ visa tay nghề theo Ministerial Direction No.105.
✔ Regional
✔ Healthcare
✔ Teaching
✔ Accredited Sponsor
✔ Hồ sơ chuẩn chỉnh ngay từ đầu
Những hồ sơ nộp “vội”, thiếu giấy tờ hoặc sponsor yếu sẽ ngày càng khó cạnh tranh thời gian xét duyệt.

🇳🇿 NEW ZEALAND UPDATES ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS FOR MORE AEWV APPLICATIONS FROM JUNE 2026

New Zealand has officially announced an important update to the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) program.

📌 From 01 June 2026, minimum English language requirements will also apply to jobs classified under ANZSCO and the National Occupation List (NOL) Skill Level 3.

Currently, this requirement only applies to Skill Level 4 and 5 positions.

According to New Zealand Immigration Minister — Hon Erica Stanford, Skill Level 3 occupations currently make up the majority of AEWV applications, accounting for around 50% of total applications lodged.

💬 The New Zealand Government stated that basic English proficiency helps migrant workers:
• better understand their rights and responsibilities
• communicate more effectively at work
• integrate more successfully into New Zealand communities

📌 What is the required English level?

The required standard will be:
✔️ IELTS 4.0 or equivalent

This is considered a basic everyday communication level, not an advanced English requirement.

⚠️ Who will be affected?

The new policy will apply to:
• AEWV applications lodged from 01 June 2026 onwards
• Current AEWV holders whose visas expire after 01 December 2026 and who wish to apply for a new AEWV under Skill Level 3

📌 Transitional arrangements & exemptions:

✅ AEWV holders with visas expiring on or before 01 December 2026 can still apply for a new Skill Level 3 AEWV without meeting the new English requirement

✅ Applicants who have previously provided acceptable English evidence in an AEWV application will continue to be considered as having met the requirement

❌ The new English requirement will NOT apply to:
• Job Change applications
• Global Workforce Seasonal Visa
• Peak Seasonal Visa AEWV applications

📣 If you are planning to work in New Zealand under the AEWV pathway, it is recommended to prepare your English documents early to avoid impacting your visa plans in the near future.
