Starting a family as an LGBTQ+ person is not straightforward, but it does not have to be overwhelming either.

Our Principal, Sarah Bevan, is presenting the Legal Roadmap session at the annual Making Rainbow Families Seminar on Saturday, May 23, 2026, hosted by Rainbow Families.

This is a one-stop-shop event for LGBTQ+ people considering parenthood. The seminar covers IVF and home insemination, surrogacy pathways, fostering and adoption, emotional readiness, and the legal considerations that underpin every family creation journey.

Since 2016, hundreds of attendees have turned their questions into a clear path toward parenthood, and many of them are now parents.

As the 48th Sydney Gay and Le***an Mardi Gras takes over Oxford Street this weekend under the theme ECSTATICA, we're reflecting on how far Australia has come - from 53 arrests at the first march in 1978 to the landmark Equality Legislation Amendment (LGBTIQA+) Act 2024, the largest package of LGBTIQA+ reforms in NSW history.

Our principal Sarah Bevan was instrumental in that reform, particularly through her involvement in the Parliamentary Enquiry on surrogacy law.
