Today, on Indigenous Literacy Day, we celebrate the power of reading, writing, storytelling and learning. We also take a moment to acknowledge a painful truth: access to education was restricted, disrupted or deliberately denied to many members of the Stolen Generations, with the impacts of those policies continuing across communities today. Literacy is more than the ability to read and write. It is about connection, opportunity, self-determination and the passing of knowledge between generations. We recognise the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have kept stories, languages and culture alive despite these injustices. As we celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting equitable access to education, championing Indigenous voices and respecting the rich knowledge systems that have existed on this continent for tens of thousands of years

Our programs provide books to remote communities, publish books in langauge, and support further opportunities for young people.

Knowmore supports the LGBTQIA+ community, and believes the safety of all children should be protected. We recognize the profound resilience of those who have navigated childhoods marked by adversity, including the disproportionate rates of abuse, neglect, and sexual violence they frequently endure. No child should ever face hostility or violation for who they are.
This year's Wear it Purple day theme, ‘Colours of Courage’, celebrates the many different forms of courage shown by LGBTQIA+SB young people, allies and communities every day
