Congratulations to Terry Stern for receiving an OAM (Order of Australia Medal) in today’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list. Terry received the award for service to the law.

Terry has dedicated countless volunteer hours towards the advancement of the law and legal policy.

“I’m stoked” said Terry. ”You know, 54 years in legal practice and having devoted the last large part of my life to help the legal profession I feel really delighted to have the recognition.”

We are on the hunt for a paralegal/law student to work 3 days per week (Monday to Wednesday).

You will be trained by and work with the principal solicitor, Terry Stern.

The successful applicant will:
1. Be interested in personal injury, general litigation, contracts and conveyancing.
2. Have experience working in an office environment.
3. Be proficient with computers. Fast accurate typing is essential.
4. Have excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
5. Have good time management skills and strong work ethic.
6. Be happy to answer phones and type dictations.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.

It’s been great to take a social media break over the New Year period. We are now well and truly back in the swing of things!
Melanie appeared as agent at the first court date in a parenting matter last week on short notice. We received these beautiful flowers earlier this week from the law firm, which was an unexpected and touching gesture!

Last week Melanie presented with Leah Reid for Legalwise Seminars at their Family Law for Paralegals, Law Clerks and Support Staff Seminar. Leah whipped up a great Powerpoint presentation that brought their paper to life. An intuitive approach to this 3 hour workshop let Melanie & Leah bounce off each other and encouraged the delegates to actively participate. Thank you also to the wonderful chair, Gemma Berkhout!

Melanie also had the privilege of presenting with Alicia Elliott the following day at the School Law for School Counsellors Conference. Their topic focused on Family Law Conflicts: Critical Issues for School Counsellors. It was a great exercise preparing to present to non-lawyers.
