Joanne Li our Associate, Trade Mark Attorney at Baxter IP joining the Beauty Expo 2022 at ICC Sydney.
Joanne was excited to attend the Beauty Expo 2022 at ICC Sydney. Over 200 brands of 150 exhibitors in the beauty industry attended the Expo, showcasing cutting-edge technologies of machines for beauty treatments, the latest popular beauty therapies, beauty products, and tools.
Wandering around the exhibition, it was not hard to find protected Intellectual Property among the goods on exhibition. The most common one is registered trade marks for the brand names and logos. Second to it is registered designs for product packaging, tools, and devices, and patent protected technologies of machines, formulas of cosmetic products etc. Several exhibitors told me that they had been involved in disputes. Some of them had received letters of demand from other companies for unintentionally infringing IP rights of others and some found it difficult and costly in stopping infringements without proper IP protection.
Being active in the field of IP protection, we've seen an obvious increase in the number of IP related disputes in the past few years. This suggests that businesses are getting stronger awareness of protecting and enforcing their IP rights.
If you have any questions about your trade marks or protecting your IP, our professional team is capable of providing comprehensive IP advice that your business would need.
