Defamation by the Instagram story – The court has awarded $82,500 in damages to the owner of the cosmetic surgery clinic. The story feature on social media platforms is infected by personal grievances aired in an obnoxious manner and is often not a reliable source of information, said Judge Reid.

A court has awarded $82,500 in damages to cosmetic clinic owners in what is thought to be Australia’s first judgment involving defamation in an Instagram story.

A leaked memo revealed that Facebook is looking into developing an Instagram version for children under 13. Attorneys general from 44 states urged Facebook to abandon its plan to create Instagram for kids under 13. They highlighted the fact that social media use is associated with self-esteem, bullying, and depression among teenagers.

Social media companies are increasingly targeting children, but public health and child advocacy experts say doing so is fraught with risk and are calling on Facebook and other tech giants to abandon their plans.
