Employers in Australia can use the employer-sponsored visa to sponsor specific skilled workers to meet their business needs. It also allows foreign skilled workers to explore employment opportunities with Australian employers who may require their skills. Most companies in Australia can sponsor as long as they cannot find an Australian citizen or permanent resident to fill the position. Here are the most commonly used Work Visas Australia offer:

βœ… Subclass 482 Visa - or TSS is the most common one. This temporary visa lets an employer sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position they can’t find a suitably skilled Australian to fill.

βœ… Subclass 186 Visa - or ENS is a permanent visa. This visa lets skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, live and work in Australia permanently.

βœ… Subclass 494 Visa - a permanent visa that requires you to work in a regional area. This visa enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages within their region by sponsoring skilled workers where employers can't source an appropriately skilled Australian worker.

βœ…β  Subclass 408 Visa - Temporary Activity visa. This visa allows you to come to Australia to do specific types of work on a short-term, temporary basis.

βœ… Subclass 407 Visa - Training visa. This visa allows you to take part in workplace-based occupational training activities to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, field of expertise or in a professional development training program in Australia.

βœ… Subclass 403 Visa - Temporary Work (International Relations) visa. A temporary visa to work in specific circumstances that improve Australia’s international relations.

βœ… Subclass 892 Visa - State or Territory Sponsored Business Owner visa. This visa is for people who own and manage a business in Australia. It allows you to stay in Australia indefinitely. To apply as a primary applicant, you must have a qualifying visa granted on a particular basis.

βœ… Subclass 893 Visa - State or Territory Sponsored Investor visa. This is a permanent resident visa for subclass State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) visa (subclass 165) holders & who have held a designated investment of AUD750,000 for 4 years.

Planning to apply for an Australian Student Visa in 2026? Preparation is more important than ever.

Before lodging your Student visa application, you must first secure admission with an Australian education provider and receive your Confirmation of Enrolment. Your CoE is one of the key documents required for your visa application.

You should also make sure your Overseas Student Health Cover is arranged for the correct duration, as student visa holders are required to maintain adequate health insurance while in Australia. Study Australia also notes that the current Student visa application fee is from AUD $2,000 per application, unless an exemption applies.

A strong Student visa application is not just about uploading documents. You must be able to clearly explain your genuine intention to study, your course choice, your financial capacity, your academic background and how the study fits into your future plans.

Depending on your country, education provider and principal course, you may also need to provide financial and English evidence at the time of lodgement. Even where these documents are not required upfront, the Department of Home Affairs may still request them during processing.

It is also important to check your current visa status before planning an onshore application, as holders of certain visas, including Visitor and Temporary Graduate visas, cannot apply for a Student visa while in Australia.

At Provisa, we help students choose the right course, prepare their documents and lodge well-structured applications with confidence.

31/05/2026

Experiencing family violence while on a temporary Partner visa in Australia does not mean you have to stay in an abusive relationship to remain in the country. Australia has provisions in its migration laws to protect individuals in such situations. If you hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 309 or 820) or a Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300) and your relationship has ended due to family violence, you may still continue with your permanent Partner visa (subclass 100 or 801) application.

The Department of Home Affairs requires evidence to support your claims of family violence, which can be judicial (such as court orders) or non-judicial (such as statutory declarations and reports from medical professionals, police, or social workers). It's crucial to gather and present this evidence carefully to ensure your case is strong.

If however you are offshore and your Subclass 309 has not been granted, it will not be granted even if you can establish a claim of domestic violence.

For detailed information and support, you can visit the Department of Home Affairs' dedicated page on domestic and family violence here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/domestic-family-violence-and-your-visa

With so much information available, you must be cautious about the source from where you obtain it. It's no different when it comes to finding the most recent migration updates. You must rely on trustworthy and official sources.
The Home Affairs website is a wonderful place to start. If you're seeking for information about a specific state or territory, go straight to their official websites. They are continuously updated, so you will always get the most up-to-date and accurate information.

If your child is born after you’ve lodged your visa application but before a decision is made, it's important to notify the Department of Home Affairs as soon as possible.

Once notified, your baby:
βœ… Will be considered to hold the same visa(s) that you and the other parent held at the time of birth
βœ… Will be added to any unfinalised visa applications
βœ… Will have no additional application fee

πŸ“„ What to upload via your ImmiAccount:
βœ”οΈ Form 1022 – Notification of changes in circumstances
βœ”οΈ Colour scan of your baby’s Australian birth certificate
βœ”οΈ Passport pages (once available – can be uploaded later)

πŸ’‘ Your baby’s visa will carry the same conditions (e.g., work rights, bridging visa status) as yours and the other parent’s.

πŸ›‚ Important: Your child must still meet visa grant requirements like sponsorship (if applicable), health checks, and holding a valid passport.

⚠️ Already had your visa refused?
Still notify the Department of your baby’s birth. While the baby’s application may also be refused, this allows you to include them in any potential merits review process and helps them remain lawful in Australia.
