🚨 Important Update – Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) - Iran

Your Visitor visa may temporarily cease if you:

• Are outside Australia on 26 March 2026
• Hold a Subclass 600 visa
• Applied using an Iranian passport

❗ This applies unless an exemption is met
❗ No refunds will be provided unless criteria under reg 2.12F are satisfied

Exemptions (you are NOT affected if you are):

• Partner or dependent child of an Australian citizen / PR / eligible NZ citizen
• Parent of a child under 18 in Australia
• Already in Australia when the measure commenced
• Holder of a valid Permitted Travel Certificate (PTC)

Permitted Travel Certificate (PTC)

PTCs are issued case-by-case and only in limited situations, including:

• Parents of an Australian citizen
• Individuals who can demonstrate their stay is genuinely temporary

Understanding the Australian Study Requirement is critical and often misunderstood. Meeting this requirement is essential for Subclass 485 visa, and for claiming points in points-based visas!

To meet this requirement, your study must:

• Result in a completed qualification
• Be CRICOS-registered
• Total at least 2 academic years (92 weeks)
• Be completed over minimum 16 months
• Be undertaken in Australia on a suitable visa
• Be delivered entirely in English

⚠️ It’s not just about studying in Australia — the structure and compliance of your course matter.

Australia has introduced a new law that allows the Government to temporarily stop certain temporary visa holders from entering Australia in specific situations.

🔹 It works through something called an “arrival control determination”
🔹 This can apply to groups of people outside Australia
🔹 It is usually used during major international events (e.g. conflict or crisis)

If a determination is made:
➡️ Affected visa holders may not be able to enter Australia, even if they already have a visa

Important:
✔️ It does NOT apply to people already in Australia when a determination is made, refugees or immediate family members of Australians
✔️ It is a temporary measure (up to ~6 months)
✔️ In some cases, special permission may still be requested

👉 In short:
This law is mainly about controlling entry into Australia during global risks, not affecting people already inside the country.
