New South Wales has officially released its skilled visa allocations for the 2025โ€“26 program year:

โœ… 2,100 places โ€” Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
โœ… 1,500 places โ€” Skilled Work Regional Visa (Subclass 491)

Great news! Two pathways reopen 19 January 2026:

๐Ÿ”น Pathway 1 โ€“ Work in Regional NSW
Open to all eligible 491 occupations if:
โ€“ Youโ€™ve worked 6+ months in regional NSW
โ€“ You meet the minimum income threshold

๐Ÿ”น Pathway 3 โ€“ Regional NSW Graduate
For applicants who completed a bachelorโ€™s degree or higher in a designated regional NSW institution.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Eligible occupations must be on the NSW Regional Skills List.

๐Ÿ”ธ Pathway 2 โ€“ Invitation by NSW
Will be considered after reviewing demand from Pathways 1 & 3. Earliest possible invitation round: April 2026.

A valid application = meeting all eligibility requirements + having current and valid supporting documents (skills assessment, English test, etc.) for at least 5 days after submission.

You may request urgent processing if, within 10 working days:
โ€“ Your or your partnerโ€™s visa is expiring
โ€“ Your English test, skills assessment, or passport is expiring
โ€“ Youโ€™re about to lose age points and fall below minimum requirements

Processing generally takes up to 6 weeks, depending on volume.

Hey everyone! Big changes are coming to Queenslandโ€™s skilled migration pathways under the 2025-26 state program. Hereโ€™s what you need to know if youโ€™re considering applying under subclass 190 or 491

Skilled Workers
โ€ข Subclass 190: 9 months of work in a closely related occupation, at least 20 hours/week.
โ€ข Subclass 491: 6 months of work in a closely related occupation, at least 20 hours/week.

QLD Graduates
โ€ข 190: 9 months working in a Level 1 occupation, 20 hours/week
โ€ข 491: 6 months working in a Level 1 occupation, 20 hours/week

Building & Construction
โ€ข Must have worked in QLD for the previous 3 months, in a closely related occupation.

Overseas Applicants
โ€ข At least 1 year of current work experience in your nominated occupation.

Other Details
โ€ข There is no set date yet for invitation rounds.
โ€ข All applicants must satisfy Queenslandโ€™s state nomination requirements and the Australian Department of Home Affairsโ€™ requirements.
