With a VA, you only pay for time spent on your tasks - not for their toilet breaks, water cooler chat etc. Whereas with a full-time employee they are paid to be there regardless of their productivity. This is why the hours per year are so different.

Are you struggling with deciding whether to hire a virtual assistant or an employee? Sometimes, an employee is a better choice (for example when you require onsite support). However, there are multiple reasons why choosing a virtual assistant is a better choice most of the time.

FLEXIBILITY: An employee works set hours. There is no flexibility to allow for the ebbs and flows of your workload. When you contract a virtual assistant, you have the flexibility of doing so when you actually need assistance. Hours can be increased or decreased to fit your current workload and deadlines.

COMMITMENT: Virtual assistants are often small business owners. Accordingly, they understand the importance of your big picture and vision. They are there to support you and assist you to grow your business. Most virtual assistants rely on happy clients and word of mouth referrals so you can be assured they will work for you to their best ability. They succeed when you succeed.
