❗ Major Immigration Changes Reportedly Expected in September

According to The Australian, the Australian Government is reportedly considering a range of significant immigration reforms, with further announcements expected in September.

• Restricting certain onshore Student visa applications

• Introducing tighter rules for family members of international students applying for visas

• Restricting movement from higher education courses to vocational/VET courses

Important information for Subclass 407 Training Visa applicants and sponsors.

If your 407 nomination is refused and you have not lodged an ART review of that nomination before your visa is subsequently refused, you may not have review rights available for the visa refusal.

Even if you try to lodge an ART application afterwards, the application may be considered invalid.

For visa review rights, the associated nomination generally needs to be:

• Approved, or
• If refused, already under ART review at the relevant time.

⚠️ TIMING IS CRITICAL

If your 407 nomination has been refused, do not ignore the ART review deadline or wait for a decision on the visa application.
