The Federal Government has put a moratorium on evictions on the next six months for commercial and residential tenancies however this does not mean there won’t be evictions after six months time. The government has also agreed to a common set of principles, endorsed by Treasurers to aid commercial tenancies, including reduction or waiver of rental payments. However this is not law yet and the parties should, in the meantime, agree similar terms themselves to ensure that businesses survive the crisis.
