✔️ Earn your full CPD requirements (1 point per hour of attendance)
✔️ Full day of papers on Friday
✔️ Networking drinks followed by the Profession Dinner on Friday evening
✔️ Half day of papers on Saturday
✔️ Concluding with a social event on Saturday afternoon

The Central Queensland Law Association (CQLA) held its Annual General Meeting on Friday, 27 March 2026, marking the conclusion of a highly successful year for the Association.

The outgoing committee comprised Melanie Findlay (President), Grace De Vere (Secretary), Kyleigh Barnes (Treasurer) and Kat Walker (Chair, Early Career Lawyers Committee). The Association acknowledges and thanks the outgoing committee for their leadership and service. In particular, the committee delivered a well attended annual conference at the Keppel Bay Sailing Club Function Centre and a successful Law Ball at the Rockhampton Racecourse. These events were a credit to their commitment and professionalism and a testament to the strength and collegiality of the CQ Profession.

The incoming committee for 2026 has now been appointed and comprises Robert Rooney (President), Elizabeth Fairon (Vice President), Talitha Dodson (Secretary), Damien Martin (Treasurer) and Katina Kyreakou (Family Law Coordinator).

The position of Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee remains vacant. The CQLA invites expressions of interest from members who wish to contribute to the development and support of early career practitioners in the region. Interested members are encouraged to contact any member of the committee.

Membership renewals for 2026 will be issued shortly. The Association also confirms that planning is underway for the next annual conference, with dates to be announced in due course.

The CQLA looks forward to continuing to support the legal profession across Central Queensland in the year ahead.

On 19 July 2025, we hosted 245 attendees to a fun-filled, circus-themed night!

The CQLA is delighted to announce that a donation in the amount of $30,864.52 has been presented to The Shelter Collective following a very successful CQLA 23rd Biennial Charity Law Ball!

We are privileged to be in a position to assist those who commit themselves to meeting this community need. The money raised has assisted The Shelter Collective’s next project come to fruition, and in turn – making a difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and families right here in Central Queensland.

Thank you to all who assisted, attended and donated!
