Accidents can happen any time, anywhere. So what are your rights?

Public liability covers you in the circumstance where an incident has happened due to some form of negligence. This could be by a homeowner, business owner, event coordinator, or more.

Knowing your rights will protect you.

If you have been affected by an incident, you may be entitled to compensation.

Thank you to Troy, we really appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback on Google.

First time navigating something like this and you walked away feeling like the team had it covered, that's everything. So glad Danielle, Brooke and Andrew could make it easy.

The first conversation with our team is free if someone you know needs clarity.

"I'm not near one of your offices" is something we hear a lot but our response is always “no problem”.

Whilst we have offices across SEQ, we also have visited offices throughout Queensland and for anyone further out, we can arrange a Teams or Zoom meeting to go over everything, so you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your own home.

If an in-person meeting is what's needed, our team will travel out to you at no cost, wherever you are in the State.

Geography shouldn't be the reason someone doesn't get the right advice and representation.

Most accident compensation claims never see the inside of a courtroom. But if yours does reach that point, here's what the process actually looks like.

Court proceedings being commenced doesn't mean your matter will go to trial.

First come pleadings, where both sides formally set out their positions, followed by disclosure, where evidence is exchanged.

From there, further evidence may be gathered and a separate mediation will typically take place.

The goal at every stage is resolution, trial is genuinely the last resort.

If the matter hasn't resolved after all of that, then yes, it goes before a court.

It sounds like a lot, but you won't be navigating any of it alone. If you have questions about where your matter is headed, reach out to our team.

So grateful for this review, Lena, thank you.

Simple and straightforward is exactly what we work toward, and hearing that it landed that way makes it all worthwhile.

First conversation is free if you know someone who needs us.

Most people assume that being partly at fault means they walk away with nothing.

Under Queensland law, that's not how it works.

Fault is assessed proportionally. If you were 20% at fault for the accident, your property damage entitlements are reduced by 20%.

If you're unsure where you stand after an accident, reach out. The initial conversation costs you nothing as per our no win, no fee structure.

Social media posts could seriously affect a compensation claim.

Courts and insurers now routinely review Facebook, Instagram and TikTok when assessing claims and there have been a number of recent cases where a single post (often something completely innocent) led to a reduction in the compensation payable.

Speak to an expert before posting anything.

Most people assume that a company’s policies and procedures are just internal documents.

Under Queensland law, however, those documents can potentially be used against the company.

If a company has written procedures for safety, training or operations and an accident happens because those procedures weren't followed, those same documents become evidence of what should have happened.

Any organisation that puts its standards in writing is effectively setting the bar that it'll be held to.

How liability gets established isn't always obvious. If you'd like to understand how Queensland law works in this area, our team can help.

Calling a no win no fee lawyer is not as stressful as you might think. And it’s normally free.

When you call, all that happens is that you answer a few questions and we then give you honest advice about your rights and entitlements.

We then arrange a time to meet, whether that's at one of our Qld offices or by a video call if distance is an issue, to discuss things in more detail.

There is no pressure to proceed and if you decide not to go ahead, it doesn’t cost you anything.

So, you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by reaching out to get a better understanding of your rights.
