To submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the National Innovation Visa (NIV), you would need to access the relevant online platform on the Australian Department of Home Affairs website, where you will fill out a form detailing your personal information, professional achievements, area of expertise, and evidence of exceptional talent, essentially demonstrating your potential to significantly contribute to innovation in Australia; this process is typically invitation-only, meaning you will be invited to apply based on your EOI submission if your qualifications meet the high standards of the NIV.

Good news for 485:

The new visa settings mean:

Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa holders who have been unable to travel to Australia as a result of COVID-19 international border restrictions will be able to apply for a replacement visa. This will allow current and former Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa holders whose visas expired on or after 1 February 2020 to re-apply for a new subclass 485 visa of the same duration as their original visa.

Additionally, the Morrison Government will increase the length of stay on the Temporary Graduate visa from two to three years for Masters by coursework graduates, matching that of Masters by research graduates. Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector graduates will also receive a two year Temporary Graduate visa.

The new visa settings will also extend existing measures for students and temporary graduates to recognise time spent offshore studying online to count towards qualifying for a temporary graduate visa.

Budget 2020 -Immigration

A carefully managed Migration Program is an important part of Australia’s economic recovery and will create jobs and bring high value investment to help Australia rebound from COVID-19. In 2020-21 the planned ceiling for the Migration Program will remain at 160,000 places.

Global Talent Independent

Strong focus on attracting the best and brightest migrants from around the world, with a tripling of the Global Talent Independent program allocation to 15,000 places

BIIP

Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) to 13,500 places. The BIIP will also be streamlined and reformed to ensure that investments are targeted at Australian venture capitals and emerging small and medium size businesses to support the economic recovery.

Family:

The Family stream planning level has been set at 77,300 places, including 72,300 within the Partner category.

While overall the government has placed greater emphasis on the family stream, most of these are people already in Australia. Of the new permanent residents coming into the country, we still anticipate that approximately two thirds will be in the skilled stream and one third from the family stream.

We just won this case on 17 June 2020 at the FCC on Bias- very rare to win on bias

SINGH v MINISTER FOR IMMIGRATION &ANOR[2020] FCCA 1583

14. Ground 1 contends that:

1. The decision of Tribunal Member … dated 13 October 2016 is affected by actual bias in that the Tribunal was hostile and closed minded to the applicant. Alternatively, a reasonable bystander might apprehend - from the Tribunal's interruptions, rudeness, scornfulness, disbelief and failure to actually consider the relevant provisions in light of the evidence - that the Tribunal might not bring an open mind to its task

22. Whilst I accept that in some hearings some degree of informality ensues and that as part of that, Tribunal members may make quips or jokes in a goodhearted manner. In the context of this hearing (and the tone of the comments when one listens to the audio recording) it would not be possible to conceive of these comments as being light-hearted or jovial. As a result of the matters set out above, I am persuaded that the material demonstrates conduct by the Tribunal member that would give (the well informed bystander) a reasonable apprehension that the Tribunal would not approach the matter impartially
