Received your Notice of Assessment, but not sure what it all means?
Once the ATO processes your Tax Return, it sends you a Notice of Assessment, also known as an NOA.
Your NOA explains how the ATO calculated your final tax result. It includes important figures such as:
• Your taxable income
• The tax calculated on your income
• Tax offsets and credits
• The Medicare levy or Medicare levy surcharge, if applicable
• Tax you’ve already paid
• Your final refund or amount owing
The most important part is the outcome:
CR means you have a credit. This will usually be refunded, although some or all of it may be used to pay other government debts.
DR means you have an amount to pay.
Swipe through as we explain each section in plain English and show you where your final result came from.
