πŸ“Œ Friday FAQ πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Is the 186 Direct Entry nomination assessed more strictly than a 482 Skills in Demand nomination?

πŸ‘‰ In many cases, yes.

Because the 186 visa leads directly to permanent residency, the Department may scrutinise:
βœ” Position genuineness
βœ” Business operations
βœ” Financial capacity
βœ” Long-term employment need

This can be especially important for smaller or non-accredited sponsors.

🚨 Employer Sponsored Visa Applicants: Are You Ready Before 1 July 2026?

If you are planning to lodge a 482, Skills in Demand, 186 or employer sponsored visa nomination, now is the time to check whether your application is ready.

From 1 July 2026, the Core Skills Income Threshold is expected to increase to $79,499.

This could affect applicants and employers where the nominated salary is close to the current threshold.

At Better Life Migration, we are offering a:

βœ… Pre-1 July Visa Readiness Check for Employer Sponsored Visas

This check is designed to help you review:

βœ” Whether your visa or nomination is ready to lodge
βœ” Whether the salary meets the current threshold and AMSR requirements
βœ” Whether the occupation and position are suitable
βœ” Whether documents are complete and decision-ready
βœ” Whether waiting until after 1 July could create risks
βœ” Whether law, policy or system changes may affect your pathway

Do not wait until 30 June 2026.

Department systems may be busy, ImmiAccount may be affected by updates, and last-minute lodgement can create unnecessary stress and risk.

If your employer sponsored visa pathway is important to your future in Australia, act early.

πŸ“Œ Thursday Thoughts: Student Visa Integrity and VET Provider Scrutiny πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Australia has announced a 12-month suspension on new applications for CRICOS registrations and courses to ASQA for certain VET and ELICOS providers seeking to teach international students.

The aim is to strengthen quality, integrity and scrutiny in the international education sector.

πŸ“Œ What does this mean for students?

It does not mean genuine students should panic.

But it does mean students should be more careful when choosing:

βœ… Course
βœ… Provider
βœ… Study pathway
βœ… Long-term career plan
βœ… Migration strategy

The Department and regulators are continuing to focus on genuine study, provider quality and student visa integrity.

πŸ‘‰ A rushed course change or poor provider choice can create problems later.

πŸ“ž Unsure whether your course or study pathway makes sense for your future plans?

Speak with Better Life Migration before making a decision.

πŸ“Œ Wednesday Wisdom: ART β€œOn the Papers” Review Process πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Visa refusal review? Your written evidence may now matter more than ever.

Recent ART changes mean certain temporary visa review matters may be decided without an oral hearing. This is often referred to as an β€œon the papers” review.

πŸ“Œ What does this mean?

βœ” The Tribunal may rely heavily on documents and written submissions
βœ” Applicants may be asked to provide further written evidence
βœ” Missing deadlines can seriously affect a review
βœ” Not every matter will necessarily involve an oral hearing
βœ” ART members remain responsible for final decisions

πŸ‘‰ Why this matters:

If your review is decided mainly on documents, your written submissions, evidence and response strategy become critical.

A weak or incomplete review file may be harder to fix later.

πŸ“ž Facing a visa refusal or considering ART review?

Speak with Better Life Migration before lodging or responding.

Tuesday Takeaway: Post-Invitation Changes Can Create Visa Risks

Have you received a skilled migration invitation and now want to add your partner?

Be very careful.

For invitation-based visas, the information declared in your EOI and relied on at the time of invitation can be critical. Changes after invitation may affect:

βœ… Points claims
βœ… Partner points
βœ… Relationship status
βœ… Eligibility
βœ… Evidence requirements
βœ… Overall application strategy

Even where a partner has English results or a skills assessment, adding a partner after invitation should not be treated as a simple update.

πŸ‘‰ The risk is not just about uploading a new document. It is about whether the application remains consistent with the invitation and the points claimed.

Migration strategy matters before you receive an invitation, not after.

πŸ“ž Unsure how a relationship change may affect your PR pathway?

πŸ“’ Which States Are Still Open for Skilled Migration? πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Many applicants are asking: πŸ‘‰ Which states are still accepting applications or issuing invitations?

πŸ“Œ Current situation: ❌ NSW 190 – Allocation filled ❌ Victoria – Closed to new ROIs ❌ ACT – Final round completed

βœ” SA – Limited invitations continuing βœ” WA – Selected occupations still active βœ” Tasmania – Limited opportunities remain βœ” Regional 491 pathways still available in several states

⚠ Competition continues increasing across Australia.

πŸ‘‰ Insight: Migration is no longer just about points. Occupation demand, regional pathways and state strategy now play a major role.

πŸ“Œ Tasmania Skilled Migration Update: ROIs Closing Soon πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Planning to submit a Registration of Interest for Tasmania state nomination?

Migration Tasmania has announced that Registrations of Interest for all pathways and pass levels will close at 5pm on Wednesday, 3 June 2026 for the 2025-26 program year.

The final invitation round for the 2025-26 program year is expected to take place on Thursday, 4 June 2026.

What this means for applicants:

βœ… ROIs should be submitted before the deadline if you are eligible and ready
βœ… Tasmania will continue assessing nomination applications
βœ… New nomination applications can still be lodged if invited
βœ… With limited nomination places remaining, not all applicants may be nominated this program year
βœ… Some approved applications may need to wait for the 2026-27 nomination allocation
βœ… ROIs not invited before the end of the program may remain in the Gateway for six months and be considered when the 2026-27 program opens

This is another reminder that state nomination is becoming increasingly competitive across Australia.

πŸ‘‰ If Tasmania is part of your PR strategy, do not wait until the last minute. Check your eligibility, documents and pathway before submitting an ROI.
