Thinking about transferring your property to a family member?

It may feel like a simple gift, especially if little or no money is changing hands. But in NSW, a family transfer is not automatically exempt from transfer duty just because it is a gift.

Unless a specific exemption applies, transfer duty is generally calculated on the higher of the consideration given and the property's unencumbered market value.

A family transfer can also have tax, land tax, Centrelink, aged-care, estate-planning and mortgage implications.

We have some exciting news from our Nowra office.

Hayley is officially a Licensed Conveyancer.

After years of juggling full-time work, study and life as a busy mum of two, Hayley completed her studies at Macquarie University in June and has now officially received her conveyancing licence.

Hayley has been part of the Bliss Conveyancing team for 8 years, working with clients from our Nowra office across the Shoalhaven and beyond.
