Yesterday we hosted our second Licensee Workshop and were thrilled with the turnout — especially on such a wet and rainy day! 🌧️

A huge thank you to our incredible speakers for sharing their knowledge and insights, and to everyone who attended and contributed to such a great session.

We’d also like to thank our co-sponsors, Strata Community Insurance and CCC Cleaning & Caretaking Corporation, for their valued support.

We hope everyone walked away with everything they wanted from the session, along with clearer direction and guidance in your role as a licensee.

We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Last month, Matt and David had the opportunity to attend the SCA National Conference in Adelaide — a great few days of connecting with industry leaders, hearing fresh ideas, and catching up with familiar faces from across the sector.

Another great event for the industry, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.

With our Licensee Workshop now less than two weeks away, we’re excited to announce an additional resource to make this session even more practical: the Licensee Manual.

All attendees at our upcoming Licensee Workshop will receive a copy of the Licensee Manual — a go-to guide for understanding and meeting your Class 1 responsibilities. It outlines the key duties, practical steps and compliance considerations you need to manage your role proactively, confidently and consistently.

If your to-do list as a licensee feels never-ending, this manual is designed to help. It breaks down key tasks, highlights important communication deadlines, explains review requirements, and provides clear frameworks around the legal responsibilities attached to your Class 1 licence.

On top of that, we are also now covering the new Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing laws during the session too!

Not registered yet? If you’re a Compliance Pack member, email [email protected] to find out how to secure one of the last remaining tickets to this exclusive event.

Meet the Team > Paul Wiseman

Paul Wiseman has been a key member of Bannermans Lawyers since 2013. Before joining the firm, Paul worked in‑house at a top‑tier construction company, beginning as a paralegal and later practising as a solicitor. Since joining Bannermans, Paul has contributed across both the Strata and Construction teams. His strata work includes advising on and drafting by‑laws, preparing adjudication applications and responses in NCAT, representing owners corporations in Local Court proceedings and assisting with highly complex legal matters.

In the construction space, Paul advises owners corporations on building defects, insurance claims, legal remedies and limitation periods. He has acted for both owners corporations and builders in defect disputes across the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Local Court and Supreme Court, and assists with mediation and the preparation of settlement deeds.

Paul holds a Juris Doctor (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of International Studies from Macquarie University. Around the office, he’s known for two things: being the walking encyclopedia of strata law and being the generous snack hub who keeps everyone supplied (often at his own expense). Outside of work, he is a dedicated father of two and enjoys spending his time with his children.

With his strong technical expertise and extensive legal experience, Paul is a highly respected and valued member of the Bannermans team.

Last week, Joseph Bannerman, Duncan Campbell and Dylan Lin from our office attended Australian Apartment Advocacy's “Insurance Commissions: 10 Top Tips” session—an important discussion for strata, transparency and informed decision-making. This was a great opportunity for our team to deepen our understanding of current issues and best practice in this space.

A big thank you to the speakers for sharing such clear, practical insights.
