Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent annual breakfast and for supporting our charity partner, Soul Hub Newcastle.

On the morning, we were fortunate to hear from Deputy President Saunders of the Fair Work Commission, who shared his insights on the history and evolution of the Commission, its role within Australia's workplace relations framework, and the key issues shaping workplaces today.

Drawing on his extensive experience in employment and industrial law, as well as his time with the Fair Work Commission since 2015, Deputy President Saunders provided a valuable perspective on the current workplace relations environment and the challenges and opportunities arising from ongoing workplace reform.

We appreciate Deputy President Saunders taking the time to share his expertise and contribute to an informative and engaging discussion.

📢 Award Update Effective Today

From 1 September 2026, employers covered by the Aged Care Award and SCHADS Award should be aware of a temporary increase to the vehicle allowance.

🚗 The allowance has increased from $1.01/km to $1.05/km and will apply from the first full pay period on or after 1 September 2026. The increase will remain in place until 28 February 2027.

Employers should review their payroll and reimbursement practices to ensure they reflect the updated rate.

🌟 Player of the Month – Hayley! 🌟

A big congratulations to Hayley, our Player of the Month for our Live It value.

Hayley has been doing great work in our Commercial team, while also putting her hair on the line for a great cause! 💇‍♀️

She recently took the plunge and cut and donated her hair through Hair with Heart, raising funds to help provide wigs for children experiencing hair loss.

It was a huge change, and we love that Hayley turned it into an opportunity to give back and make a meaningful difference to young people and their families.

Well done, Hayley — a wonderful example of Living It! 👏💚

🔴 Red Nose Day 2026 🔴

Today, the OL team got behind Red Nose Day by wearing red, enjoying a red themed morning tea, and making donations to support this important cause.

We're proud to once again support Red Nose in helping save little lives, fund vital research, and provide support to families experiencing the loss of a baby or child.

Thanks to the generosity of our team, along with a some generous donation matches from Red Nose Day sponsors, we raised $896.

As a result, Lana has agreed to take on a suitably embarrassing challenge, voted for by the team...

On Friday, we enjoyed a belated EOFY team get-together at the George Darby Hotel — and what a great afternoon it was!

Plenty of good food, laughs and some very competitive Friday raffle action. We were lucky enough to walk away with a few meat trays — definitely a win! 🥩🏆

A special mention to our Nicolla, who came very close to winning the $500 hole in one! ⛳💰 So close, but not quite!

A big thank you to the GDH team for looking after us and helping make it such a fun afternoon. We had a ball! 🥂🎉
