📱 Every phone can save a life.
May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month — a time to stand together, raise awareness, and take action.
For many victims and survivors, something as simple as a safe mobile phone can mean the difference between isolation and connection, danger and safety.
That’s why organisations like DV Safe Phone are so important. They collect, repurpose, and distribute mobile phones to those escaping domestic and family violence — giving people a lifeline to emergency services, support networks, and a path forward.
💙 This month, you can help:
✔️ Donate your old phone
✔️ Share DV Safe Phone’s mission
✔️ Start conversations that break the silence
No one should ever feel trapped without a way to call for help.

This stunning photo was voted Best Overall at our recent staff activity day 📸
Our team spends their days supporting people through difficult and often stressful legal situations. That kind of work can take a toll, and we know how important it is to look after the wellbeing of those who look after others.
That’s why we run activity days like this—creating space for mindfulness, creativity, and a chance to recharge.
We’d love to recognise the talented Solicitor who took this picture, but for safety reasons they’ve asked to remain anonymous.
Moments like this remind us that even small pauses can make a big difference 💛

☕ Friday Morning Tea with our amazing volunteers ☕
This week, as part of National Volunteer Week, we’ve been hosting a number of events to thank the incredible people who give their time to support Hunter CLC.
We are fortunate to have volunteers helping us most days of the week — and truly, we couldn’t do what we do without them.
Our Friday Morning Tea was just one small way to show our appreciation for the dedication, care, and commitment our volunteers bring to supporting the communities we serve.
Although National Volunteer Week is ending, the need for volunteers to continue this vital work remains — and so does our enormous gratitude.
Thank you for everything you do to help us support those who need it most.

At our National Volunteer Week afternoon tea, we asked our volunteers to draw themselves and the results say it all. Maybe som of them should volunteer as artists?
Each face represents someone helping us support our community.
Thank you to everyone who helps us

Celebrating National Volunteer Week 💚
We brought together past, present, and future volunteers (and our amazing pro bono partners!) for an afternoon tea to say thank you.
From inspiring stories to familiar faces—and yes, plenty of sweet treats—this event was a reminder that volunteering creates connection, purpose, and real impact. Thanks to Costco Wholesale Australia for their support.
Thank you to everyone who helps us ✨

We loved celebrating National Volunteer Week with an afternoon tea alongside our past, present, and future volunteers and pro bono partners.
This week recognises the incredible contribution volunteers make to building strong, connected communities, with this year’s theme “Your Year to Volunteer”. [volunteeri...tralia.org]
We heard from Josephine Adamson (Senior Solicitor, Legal Aid) and Molly Willoughby (Barrister), both of whom began their careers with Hunter CLC. Andrea Cassin, Professional Placement Lead at the University of Newcastle, son opoke about the Centre's ongoing student partnership with UON.
It was fantastic to reconnect with so many familiar faces—including volunteers returning this year.
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, helping us deliver essential services across the Hunter.
And yes… our team definitely enjoyed a sweet treat or two 🍰
Thank you to Costco Wholesale Australia for their supporting for the event and the Centre, and to everyone who helps us 💚
