Family migration law is changing rapidly, and keeping pace with those changes is more important than ever.
Kindra Migration Lawyers was delighted to have Rabiah Khawaja, Partner, present a CPD session for the Leo Cussen Centre for Law on the latest developments in family migration and Australian citizenship.
The session explored some of the most significant changes affecting family visa and citizenship applicants, including the impact of Direction 117, evolving evidentiary expectations in partner visa matters, expanded family violence protections, citizenship developments, and ongoing parent visa processing challenges.
A key message throughout the presentation was that successful outcomes increasingly depend on more than simply meeting the legislative criteria. Strategic planning, strong evidence and early advice are becoming increasingly important when navigating Australia’s migration framework, particularly as policy settings, processing priorities and decision-making practices continue to evolve.
For applicants and their families, these developments can directly affect processing times, visa pathways, family reunification prospects, and long-term settlement outcomes. Understanding not just the law, but how it is being applied in practice, has never been more important.
